　　Attendant: I don’t know, sir. What’s the licence number of your car?

　　Attendant: Ah yes, I remember now.

　　Mr Wood: Have your mechanics finished yet?

　　1. 本課當(dāng)中我們終于接觸到了第一個(gè)從句：I think that they'll move in the day after tomorrow.(我想他們后天搬進(jìn)來(lái)。)這是一個(gè)賓語(yǔ)從句，大家在這里只要有一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單的印象就好，不用太糾結(jié)。這句話中I think that... 是主句，意思是我想……;they'll move in the day after tomorrow. 他們后天搬進(jìn)來(lái)，這后半句是一個(gè)完整的句子，就是從句了。

　　2. 課文后兩句對(duì)話：

　　CATHERING: Poor Ian! He didn't want to leave this house.

　　JENNY: No, he didn't want to leave, but his wife did!

　　請(qǐng)注意Jenny的回答"No, he didn't..."是對(duì)前面Cathering觀點(diǎn)的肯定。這里使用"No"開(kāi)頭，和我們中文的習(xí)慣不太一樣。大家可以理解為Jenny在順著Cathering的話說(shuō)，但翻譯成中文時(shí)就要改成漢語(yǔ)習(xí)慣，譯為：是啊，他不想離開(kāi)。

　　3. Poor Ian，意思是可憐的伊恩。英文中常用Poor XX來(lái)表達(dá)同情。如果朋友遭遇不幸，你可以說(shuō)"You poor little thing." 你這可憐的小東西!—— 來(lái)安慰對(duì)方。
