在并列句中，省略是最常見(jiàn)的。一般說(shuō)來(lái)，在后一并列句中凡是與上文相同的成分通常都要省略。
My room is on the fifth floor, and hers (is) on the eighth (floor).

我的房間在五樓，而她的在八樓。

I came at right but Henry (came) at nine.

我在八點(diǎn)來(lái)，但是亨利在九點(diǎn)來(lái)。

To some life is pleasure, and to others (life is) suffering.

對(duì)一些人來(lái)說(shuō)，生活是一種享受；而對(duì)另一些人來(lái)說(shuō)，生活是一種折磨。

在簡(jiǎn)單句的并列結(jié)構(gòu)中，也常采用省略的做法：

You may go by land or (by) water.
