Zhu Min was born in Shanghai， China in 1952. He graduated from Fudan University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1982， and gained a master‘s degree in MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and a Ph.D in economics and an M.A. in economics from Johns Hopkins University.

He moved to the People‘s Bank of China as a deputy governor in October 2009.
